THE
CLUSTER MISSION: SOME RESULTS AND PLANS RELATED TO ELECTRIC FIELD OBSERVATIONS.
Mats
Andre, Swedish Institute of Space Physics, Uppsala division
The Cluster mission is a unique
European Space Agency mission to study how
the solar wind affects the
magnetosphere of the Earth. This is the first time that
four identical spacecraft have flown
in formation around the Earth. A brief
overview of the mission, and in
particular the electric field instrument, is given.
Some examples of recent observations
are presented, including waves over a
wide range of waveleghts at the
magnetopause. Plans for future studies are also discussed.
